- Completion of all underwater work – ensure hull cleaning, painting, and inspection are finished.
- Sea valves and suctions closed – all blanks refitted and valves secured watertight.
- Manholes and tank covers refitted – all internal openings to sea confirmed shut and tightened.
- Rudder, propeller, shaft and fittings secure – confirm no tools, staging, or debris remain in place.
- Dock blocks and shores checked – remove equipment or obstructions from around vessel supports.
- Personnel safety – ensure no workers remain in the dock area below waterline.
- Communication established – clear line of communication between dockmaster, vessel, and workers.
- Emergency arrangements in readiness – fire pumps, bilge pumps, and lighting available during flooding.
- Dock structure checked – caissons, pumps, and valves inspected for correct operation before admitting water.
