(a) Seven main matters considered by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) (7 marks)

  3. Rules for navigation – Including the COLREGs (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea).
  4. Carriage of cargoes – Safe handling, stowage, and carriage of cargoes, including dangerous goods.
  5. Maritime safety procedures and requirements – Operational practices to prevent accidents.
  6. Hydrographic information and navigational aids – Improving charts, lights, signals, and other aids to safe navigation.
